Hollywood stimulates me
“Hollywood left a mark on me”, said my friend last weekend. North American cinema makes us see life through rose-tinted glasses, with our prince charming and all… Sometimes, it can be counter-productive. We feel thrilled, we suffer, we cry, we laugh, we get scared… We also dream of taking part in all those happy endings until we see the reality, or not?
Last night I went to bed at 3 AM. It was because of Hollywood and the 86th Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars. After 2 AM, I would go live streaming on Ràdio Estel (click here if you missed my intervention) and discuss all the fashion designs worn by the celebrities, so I had a lot to study. I could sneak into that red carpet fantasy world using my iPad, iPhone and TV, all at the same time.
Seeing a young and inexperienced Lupita, dressed in a spectacular “baby blue” Prada –“I call it that way because it reminds me of the colour of my childhood in Nairobi”-, winning the coveted statuette to the best actress in a supporting role thank´s to her brilliant interpretation in “12 years a slave” gave me hope: everything is possible in life. Hollywood stimulates me.
P.S: Today I’m wearing a speckled jumper by Mango, velvet vintage trousers, a Gucci bag, a TCN leather hat and Rebel lipstick by MAC.
